[RDC] Edey's students housing recommendations

Feds President Chris Edey has prepared recommendations for student housing that he will present to the Student Accommodation Study Advisory Committee next week.

Some excerpts:

As a student representative and as an urban planner, I feel confident in saying that more lodging houses are not the solution for students, the broader community or the City of Waterloo.

More medium to high-density housing is needed in the neighborhoods close to the universities and within proximity of the services students need and the amenities they desire. It would best suit the needs and desires of students, the broader community and the City of Waterloo if this intensification were to take place in the Lester-Sunview neighborhood . This neighborhood is already characterized by low numbers of owner-occupied homes and high numbers of students.
