A discussion paper released as part of the city's Student Accommodation Study will affect housing developed for students at UW and WLU. Barbara Aggerholm writes in The Record about the paper, which is to be discussed at city council on 22 March.
High-density student housing proposed The Record 8 Mar 2004 pg. B1
"Increasing density and redeveloping areas near Waterloo's universities are appropriate ways to handle student housing demands, a City of Waterloo discussion paper is expected to suggest today. The student housing discussion paper, with six options, is to be released to the public at Waterloo city council tonight [Monday]."
The story includes quotations from city Policy Planner Dan Currie, Feds President Chris Edey, and WLUSU DIrector and WLUSU VP University Affairs-elect Anthony Piscitelli.
Currie talked about protecting low-density neighbourhoods. Edey talked about his proposal to allow more housing east of UW.
