Bomber expands kitchen and adds patio bar
The Bombshelter Pub is closed for renovations, which include a significantly larger kitchen and will relocate the main bar. The new main bar will feature a counter through which drinks may be served directly to the patio. As a result of the renovations which started 24 April, the Bomber will be closed for the whole term.
The renovations are budgeted for $650,000. A $250,000 budget had already been approved prior to spring 2005. The Feds Board of Directors approved an additional $400,000 last July for renovations of a greater scope.
Feds VP Administration & Finance Renjie Butalid said that by hiring the same contractor as another project and by scheduling the renovations at the same time, the costs are about $100,000 less than they otherwise would be. The Walter Fedy Partnership will be working on the Bomber while they also work on the SLC loading bay for the university. While this will save money, the project will take an estimated four months instead of two months.
As can be seen from the above highlighted diagram, the following is a summary of the changes:
- The DJ booth will be relocated beside the stage
- The satellite bar will be shifted over from its previous location so that it is parallel to the wall
- The main bar will be moved to the wall adjacent to the patio and will feature a counter to serve directly outside
- The kitchen will be expanded into the area where the main bar used to be
- Bar-height tables will be placed in the main bar area, although they haven't yet decided how many
- Restaurant booths are planned for several locations

The changes look like it will be nice inside afterwards. And with a new menu coming, if the prices are decent, I'll start eating there much more often.
So I see what is currently the office seems to be staying the same (with the door moved), but what is the small room on the left side of the enterance beside the closet that is under the stairs? It looks like it has four tables in it. Does anyone have any ideas?
Clearly it's a private room of some sort.
I think it was possible place for another booth, but it might just end up being a store room.
"Of course, this is all just speculation."
With their shiny new expanded kitchen hopefully they can crank out the delicious Bomber pub grub a lot faster during peak times.
Oh, who am I kidding...I'll always keep going to Bomber even if it takes over half an hour to get food.
Feds has a survey about the menu linked from the main page. Fill out the Bomber Menu Survey for a chance to win dinner for four at the bomber.
