Fed Bus ruling expected early next week
Transport board secretary said he expects to have the ruling on the Fed Bus licence application early next week, the week of 14 August.
"I think early next week. Definately not this week." Ontario Highway Transport Board Secretary/Manager Felix D'Mello said in a telephone interview this morning.
Federation of Students and Student Transportation of Canada are waiting to hear the ruling about whether they will be able to operate Fed Bus in the future. After having operated the weekend bus service from the University of Waterloo campus for years, the OHTB found it to be operating illegally, under the improper licence, after on a complaint from Greyhound.
The ruling on the complaint came out in May and set a 31 July 2006 deadline for Fed Bus service to end.
STC applied for a proper licence with a setup that would be similar to past operation. STC would provide the bus service and Fed would act as the ticket agent.
